1. President Buhari, Governors, Security Chiefs Storm Burkina Faso For Security Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to leave the country on Saturday in order to attend a one-day ECOWAS Heads of State and Government Extraordinary Summit on Counter-Terrorism, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. With the increasing level of threat in the sub-region, West African leaders are meeting to review the initiatives they have taken so far.

2. President Buhari Meets APC Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja held a meeting with state governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Naija News reports the governors were led to the meeting by Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi State, who also doubles as the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (APC Governors’ Forum).

3. ICPC Seals Dikko, NFF Vice President’s Abuja Residence

The Abuja residence of 2nd Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation Shehu Dikko has been sealed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Naija News understands that the action was taken by the anti-graft agency as part of investigations to uncover alleged financial malpractices in the football association, allegedly involving Dikko and other executives.

4. Dino Melaye Rejects PDP’s Appointment In Kogi State

Naija News can authoritatively report that Senator Dino Melaye has rejected his appointment as the Director-General of the Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Melaye took to his official Twitter handle @dino_melaye on Friday to make this public.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has, chided the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and its 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. On Thursday, Oshiomhole mocked Atiku and PDP, saying they will lose at every legal attempt to upturn the election victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.

6. Governor Wike Sends ‘Strong Warning’ To Traditional Rulers

Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, South-south Nigeria, has warned Traditional Rulers not to misuse their powers. Naija News reports that Governor Wike gave this warning in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Friday during the presentation of Certificates of Recognition and Staff of Office to Government Recognised Traditional Rulers.

7. FG Gets Report On Community Policing

The Federal Government has on Friday received the report of the committee on recommendations for the establishment of State Policing. Naija News understands that upon receipt of the report, the Nigerian federal government also promised the speedy implementation of the recommendations which include alternative funding mechanism and deployment of technology for intelligence gathering.

8. FUOYE Killings: Police Release Detained Student

The Ekiti State police command has released a student identified as Idris Salau, who was detained after he went to submit a letter of protest. Naija News understands that the letter was to protest the killing of two students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) by police officers, in a recent protest that turned bloody.

9. Super Eagles: Salisu Yusuf Completes One Year Suspension

A former chief coach of the Nigerian senior football team, Salisu Yusuf has returned after completing his one-year suspension from all football activities. Naija News recalls that the coach was banned from all football activities for allegedly collecting bribe from an undercover journalist, who posed as agents seeking to influence players’ selection at the tournament.

Popular Nigerian Comedian Basketmouth has said that he would be depressed if Tacha should eventually emerge as the winner of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) 2019, pepper dem edition of the reality show.
