Ortom Advises Political Leaders To Rise Above Selfish Interest

Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State, has called on the people of the state to place the interest of the state first so as to stop disunity and retrogression.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message on Tuesday, Ortom stated that the state has been faced with a lot of security and economy issues, adding that what the state needs at this time is a renewed commitment among the people of the state to overcome challenges been faced.

Ortom called on all political leaders and party supports in the state to rise above divisive, unedifying and selfish interests ahead of the 2019 general election.

He urge men and women of the state to commit themselves to democracy, economic and political stability, which he stated is essential for good governance and growth.

The governor said the priority of the present administration is that lives and property in the state are safe.

He advised the people of the state to support the security agencies by providing useful and timely information to help arrest criminals and bring peace to the state.

The Benue Governor further commended the military for the efforts being made by troops of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ to ensure that communities being terrorized in some parts of the state by armed herdsmen are safe, for those living in Internally Displaced Persons camps to return to their ancestral homes.

He called on Muslims, to commit themselves to the Holy Prophet’s injunctions of piety, honesty and charity to the less privileged.

He wished the people of the state joyful and memorable Eid-el Kabir celebration.
