Bribery: World Cup Referee Banned For Life By CAF

For allegedly being caught taking bribe on camera, a Kenyan referee, who is suppose to officiate at the ongoing World Cup in Russia has been handed a life ban.
According to reports, a hidden camera filmed Aden Marwa, while he was receiving a 600-dollar bribe during Confederation of African Football (CAF) assignment in Ghana.
In an unprecedented clean up, announced by CAF at the weekend, he was sanctioned among 22 others convicted of related offences.
The Kenyan had earlier been removed from the list of match officials due to officiate in Russia. He had officiated as a reserved during the 2014 world cup in Germany.
CAF’s disciplinary board, which handed Marwa a life ban, also banned 10 other referees for between two years and 10 years for similar offences.
A further 11 persons have been suspended pending an appearance at the board in August.
The ban and sanction meted out to erring football officials is unprecedented in the history of CAF, despite the grouping concern of lingering allegations of bribery in recent times.
