Group calls for fresh APC Ekiti primaries

All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled the canceled Ekiti State governorship election primaries to Friday, 11 May.

The new date was announced today by the party following an emergency meeting of its leadership, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary revealed.

The primaries was disrupted last Saturday after dozens of aspirants allege rigging by former governor Kayode Fayemi.

Governor Tanko Al-Makura, the chairman of the organising committee was accused by of attempting to rig the election in Fayemi’s favour. It is however not clear if this allegation against the governor have been dealt with.

The contestants asked that the election be held afresh and votes already cast by delegates from five local councils be cancelled, after passing a vote of no confident against the member of the committee.

The ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party is holding its primary today to pick its torch bearer, for the election that will take place in July.

Naija News reported earlier that Senator Olujimi stepped down for Adeyeye at the PDP Ekiti Elections primaries.
