Governance Has Collapsed In Imo State, Uzodinma Has Abandoned His Duties - Nwulu

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has approved the appointment of Augustine Chilakpu as his Special Adviser on Labour Matters.

Naija News reports that Chilakpu’s appointment was made known in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachukwu.

He disclosed that Chilakpu is the South East Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and currently an executive member of the NLC in Imo, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

Nwachukwu said: “He has served in different capacities in the NLC, such as former member of the National Executive Council (NLC Federal), former Chairman, Constitutional Review Committee, (NLC Federal), Chairman of many NLC Committees on Negotiations and other industrial relation matters, among others.

“He will be expected to bring to bear in his new office, his many years of experience in the Labour sector in the interest of the people of Imo State.

“Chilakpu hails from Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State and married with children.”

Recall that Governor Uzodinma had sacked his Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Ford Ozumba.

This was made known in a statement to journalists by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.

However, a reason was not given for the sack of the commissioner for labour and productivity.

But Naija News gathered that Ozuba’s sack, may not be unconnected with the state-wide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that crippled the public power supply in Imo state for days.
