Nigerian gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, has taken to social media to pray that Argentina wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup title in Qatar.

Naija News understands that the renowned musician is a huge fan of Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi.

Taking to his Twitter handle shortly after Argentina defeated Croatia in their semi-final clash on Tuesday, Bassey, who was responding to critics on social media, queried that so because he is seen as a man of God, he cannot watch football or show support for his favourite?

Bassey’s tweet reads: “Father, Please give Him the World Cup and silence His mockers.

“So because I want my favourite player to win the World Cup, I don’t pray for Nigeria Abi? Schm. Is it today you found out I’m a huge Messi fan. So being a man of God means I can’t watch football as one of my hobbies.”

EPL: Man United Moves To Sign Karim Benzema

Meanwhile, Manchester United, is reportedly making moves to sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Wednesday (today) claimed that the Premier League club are ready to release a mouthwatering contract offer to bring the French professional footballer to Old Trafford.

Erik Ten Hag’s side will, however, have to battle for the 34-year-old striker with Paris Saint-Germain, who are also said to be interested in signing the player.

Benzema only has six months left of his current contract with Spanish La Liga giants after winning the coveted Ballon d’Or in October.

The French man who will soon become a free agent has netted 329 goals in 617 games across 13 seasons with the Spanish giants.

Unfortunately, Benzema was ruled out of participation in the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to injury.

However, United are looking to replace his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, following his premature departure from the club.
