Lekki Shooting: If You Want Justice Make Sure Tinubu Does Not Smell Power – HURIWA To Youths

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) in a statement on Wednesday, urged Nigerian youths to do whatever they can to make sure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not voted into power.

The National Coordinator of the rights group, Emmanuel Onwubiko, who spoke with newsmen, alleged that Tinubu was one of those who orchestrated the October 20, 2020, Lekki massacre.

Naija News recalls that in October 2020 youths who were disgruntled with the operations of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), had staged a nationwide protest.

However, on October 20, 2022, security operatives attached to the Nigerian Army allegedly stormed Lekki Toll Gate where the protesters converged and opened fire on them.

Although authorities are yet to admit to the incident, video evidence has shown that several Nigerians were massacred while scores sustained life-threatening injuries.

Speaking on the massacre, Onwubiko warned that if Tinubu takes over from Buhari the EndSARS protesters might never get justice.

He said, “the youths are heroes. Nobody should have any regrets. They should not give up on the struggle for good governance. And as we move closer to elections, they should make sure that Tinubu does not smell the power.

“If somebody like Tinubu becomes Nigerian president, Lekki killings will be hidden forever”.
