Nigerian singer cum politician, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has refuted the claims of signing the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 6, Whitemoney, to his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

Naija News recalled that Whitemoney in September took to his Instagram page to share photos of himself and Banky W announcing his latest achievement.

He captioned the photos: “Now that we are in good hands, let the music flow”

However, Banky, during an interview with Hot FM, said he never signed Whitemoney instead they helped him get an influencer deal with one of the corporate bodies they service.

In his word: “I didn’t sign White money. What we did was we helped him with an influencer deal with one of the corporate clients that we service.”

I Did It Because Of Poverty

Meanwhile, WhiteMoney a few weeks ago said that he decided to go for the BBNaija show because of his financial status.

The reality TV star revealed that poverty pushed him to audition four times in a row and he won the fourth time.

Sharing his life experience in an interview with Chude Jidenowo, Whitemoney revealed that he did not attend a tertiary institution.

He said, “The highest educational qualification I have is O’ level, National Examination Council (NECO), that’s all I wrote. I didn’t write WAEC, JAMB, nor have any degree.”

He also explained that foreign movies improved his vocabulary without sound English.

He said, “I hate reading, but I love to listen, so I watch a lot of movies and emulate how they talk, and it impacted me. If I am to act the role of someone with an American accent, I have to watch five Black American movies.

“By the time I’m done with them, it automatically programs in my head against the shoot the next day. It helps me fine-tune my English, and how to read contracts and sign them. I stopped at NECO because that was where the money stopped.”
