2023 Presidency: Nigerians React As Buhari Support Group Hints On APC's Anointed Candidate

No fewer than three thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have decamped to the All Progressive Congress in Jigawa State, Naija News learnt.

The defectors were received into the ruling party at the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa.

Some of the defectors are said to have torn their PDP membership cards while pledging allegiance to the broom camp, stating that their decision to join APC became necessary following the achievements of the incumbent administration.

They also vowed to dedicate their entire political structure to the development of the APC, Naija News reports.

Receiving the new members on Saturday in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who was represented by the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi said the defectors would further make Jigawa State and Nigeria at large better through the initiatives of the APC.

According to him, the APC government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has achieved a lot and Jigawa State, in particular, is among the top beneficiaries in the country.

Meanwhile, former Governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has withdrawn from the national chairmanship race of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that this is coming days before the national convention of the ruling APC, scheduled for 26 March, 2022.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman said he decided to step down due to the zoning arrangement in the party which has ceded the office to North Central.

According to him, he would only rejoin the race should the ruling party change its mind between now and Friday.
