Former Chief Justice Dies, Musdapher At 75

Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Dahiru Musdapher

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Dahiru Musdapher, has died in a London hospital, family sources have revealed.

Though the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained,  a family member shared the news of his demise on social media.

A younger brother of the former CJN, Muneer Musdapher expressed on Facebook stating that: “My elder brother Justice Dahiru Musdapher former CJN passed on tonight.”

Late Musdapher retired from service five years ago after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 70.

 The judge was appointed CJN by former President Goodluck Jonathan, following the exit of Justice Alysious Katsina-Alu in 2011.

Mr. Musdapher schooled at the Ahmadu Bello University and the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London.

After being called to the Nigerian bar in 1968, he began his legal practice as one of the early private legal practitioners in northern Nigeria.

The former CJN, who hailed from Jigawa State, died at the age of  75 years.
