What Buhari Said During APC NEC Meeting In Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday meet with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole over the crisis rocking the ruling party.

Naija News reports that President Buhari on Thursday met with APC governors at the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

This online news platform understands that the APC governors were led to the meeting by Atiku Bagudu, the Governor of Kebbi State, north-western Nigeria.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari.

However, the national chairman of the APC said to have been expected at the meeting was absent.

It was gathered that Oshiomhole will be meeting with President Buhari, today, alongside state chairmen of the party.

A top member of the APC told the Punch that, “the two meetings are part of efforts to avoid the party’s disintegration after Buhari’s second term.”

Oshiomhole’s associate disclosed that the APC national chairman was not formally invited to the meeting on Thursday and so couldn’t have been expected at the meeting.

“It was a meeting with the APC governors so the national chairman was not supposed to be at the meeting. It is tomorrow (Friday) that he will be leading the state chairmen to see the President,” he said.

The meeting will be the first between the President and the state chairmen after the 2019 general elections.
