Funso Doherty Emerges Lagos NDC Governorship Candidate For 2027

Popular politician, Funso Doherty, has emerged as the governorship candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Lagos State for the 2027 elections.

Naija News reports that Doherty confirmed the development in a post on his 𝕏 Account on Friday, noting that he has accepted the position with gratitude and humility.

He also appreciated the NDC leadership for finding him worthy of the candidature and said the task of building a better Lagos has begun.

“With profound humility, gratitude, and a clear sense of purpose, I accept our party’s nomination to serve as its candidate for Governor of Lagos State in 2027.

“I am deeply grateful for the confidence our great party has placed in me and for our shared belief that Lagos deserves much better—inclusive leadership that works for everyone.

“The real work begins now. Together, we will build the Lagos that we know is possible.

“My friends, it’s time – O TI Ya!,” he wrote.

His candidature was also affirmed by NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, who predicted that with the emergence of Doherty, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will suffer defeat in Lagos State.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, @funsodoherty is the candidate of our great party, the NDC in Lagos State.

“It is over for the APC in Lagos,” he wrote on his 𝕏 account.
