Akor Adams Hails Eric Chelle’s Impact As Super Eagles’ Rebuild Continues
Nigeria striker Akor Adams says the Super Eagles are beginning to develop a distinct identity under head coach Eric Chelle, with the team embracing a style built on intensity, aggression and confidence in possession.
The Sevilla forward, who earned his senior debut under Chelle during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in 2025, believes the squad has fully bought into the coach’s philosophy.
Adams marked that debut with a goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 win and has since become a regular fixture in the national team setup.
The 25-year-old further strengthened his standing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, contributing two goals and two assists during the campaign.
He has now recorded five goals and two assists in 14 appearances for the Super Eagles.
Reflecting on the team’s evolution, Adams said the players are focused on maintaining their style regardless of the opposition.
“We’ve tried since the head coach came to build an identity around our strength. We play with a lot of intensity, we try to be as aggressive as possible and also we try to play with the ball,” Adams told UbuntuPitch.
“Take chances when we have them. Like every other game, we are going to play the same way, keep our DNA and try to get a good result.”
Adams also enjoyed an impressive season at club level with Sevilla FC, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 32 appearances as the Spanish side secured their La Liga status.
