Terem Moffi Braces For Tough Portugal Test After Poland Draw

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has warned that Nigeria face a tough test against Portugal after helping the team secure a 2-2 draw with Poland in an international friendly on Wednesday.

Terem Moffi continued his fine run of form for the national team by finding the net for the second successive match.

The forward had earlier scored in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Jamaica in the Unity Cup final and was again on target against Poland.

The FC Porto striker opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, applying the finishing touch to a superb pass from Moses Simon to give Nigeria an early advantage.

The Super Eagles controlled large spells of the game but were punished just before the break when they failed to deal with a corner kick. Nicola Zalewski capitalised on the lapse, firing past goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to level the scores.

Nigeria regained the lead in the second half after a Polish defender handled the ball inside the penalty area. Paul Onuachu stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to put the visitors ahead once more.

The Super Eagles appeared on course for victory, only for Poland to snatch a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time. Przemyslaw Wisniewski unleashed a long-range effort from 25 yards that found the net and denied Nigeria the win.

Despite the late disappointment, Moffi expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall display and his own contribution.

“We had a good game against Poland and I am happy I scored,” he said.

“However, I think Portugal Will be a difficult test for the Super Eagles.”

Nigeria will now turn their attention to next week’s friendly against World Cup-bound Portugal on June 10.
