‘You Are Not Forgotten, Abandoned’ – Tinubu Tells Nigerians In Eid-el-Kabir Message
President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s difficult period of economic reforms is over, saying the sacrifices made by citizens in the past three years have started yielding results.
Tinubu said the country had passed through a difficult phase but was now entering a period of stability, growth and renewed hope.
Naija News reports that the President stated this in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world.
His message came as the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and governors called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal during the celebration.
Tinubu linked the significance of Eid-el-Kabir to the sacrifices Nigerians had made under his administration’s economic reform programme.
He said the difficult decisions taken by the government had helped to stabilise the economy and improve Nigeria’s attractiveness to investors.
According to him, the reforms are now positioning the country for job creation, economic growth and fresh opportunities.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu stated.
The President said he remained confident that the reforms being pursued by his administration would continue to produce positive outcomes for Nigerians.
“By the Grace of God, the reforms we have diligently pursued will continue to yield improved security and greater opportunities for all,” he added.
Tinubu, however, admitted that insecurity remained a challenge in some parts of the country despite what he described as the efforts of security and intelligence agencies.
He noted that terrorists and bandits were still attacking some communities, even after recent successes recorded by Nigerian security forces and international partners.
The President cited the recent joint Nigeria-United States operation that led to the elimination of a senior ISIS leader, Abu-Bilal al-Manuki, in the Lake Chad Basin.
He said the development showed that the government was making progress in the fight against terrorism.
“I am aware that, despite the best efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, heartless terrorists and bandits still attack some communities.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu said.
President Calls For Prayers, Charity
The President also urged religious and community leaders to continue praying for peace, security and the country’s leadership.
He called on Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to show kindness to the less privileged and strengthen bonds of unity across religious, ethnic and political lines.
Tinubu said the season should remind citizens of the value of sacrifice, compassion and commitment to the common good.
He appealed to Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that the reforms of his administration were designed to secure a better future for the country.
