Paris FC Coach, Kombouaré Not Impressed With Super Eagles’ Moses Simon

Antoine Kombouaré has laid down a clear demand to Moses Simon, urging the winger to turn improved performances into goals and assists for Paris FC.

Moses Simon, who arrived from FC Nantes in the summer, has struggled to make an impact in front of goal. The Nigerian international is currently on a 12-game run without a goal or assist in the Ligue 1 as Paris FC battle to stay out of the danger zone.

Speaking before the clash with Le Havre AC, Kombouaré admitted the 30-year-old has shown signs of recovery since his arrival.

“Between today and the player I saw three weeks ago when I arrived. Moses has regained his confidence, he has the legs, he’s capable of repeating efforts,” he was quoted as saying by Tribunenantaise.

The manager, however, insisted that effort alone is not enough.

“Now he needs to be effective, to be able to create goals or score goals himself, that’s what we expect from him,” he added.

Kombouaré also revealed he had been direct with Simon about his earlier displays, describing them as below standard despite the player’s explanations.

“I simply told him that his performances were unacceptable. I listened when he talked about adapting to Nantes, perhaps about the coach’s confidence, but I replied: “You can say what you want, but you play first and foremost for yourself, for your family,” Kombouaré said.

The French coach stressed that Simon must justify the faith shown in him by the club.

“You have demonstrated your ability to deliver impressive performances, the management has expressed significant confidence in you, thus it is essential for you to be a vital part of the squad,” he concluded.

Simon has managed to score three goals and two assists in 23 league outings this season.
