Liam Rosenior Lands Paris FC Job After Chelsea Exit

English tactician, Liam Rosenior has been appointed head coach of Paris FC, just three months after his dismissal by Chelsea.

Liam Rosenior, 41, has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, with an option to extend his stay for a further season.

Rosenior replaces Antoine Kombouare after Paris FC finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season. The club, owned by the Arnault family with Red Bull holding a minority stake, is aiming to establish themselves higher up the French top flight.

In a statement, Paris FC said Rosenior earned the role because of his “wealth of experience at the highest level”, his ability to develop young players and his commitment to “attractive and attacking football”.

The former defender spent less than four months in charge of Chelsea after replacing Enzo Maresca in January.

Maresca departed following a disagreement with senior figures at Stamford Bridge before taking over at Manchester City.

Rosenior’s spell in west London began brightly but quickly unravelled. Chelsea lost each of their final five Premier League matches under his leadership and failed to score in any of those defeats, leading to his exit in April.

Despite that disappointing finish, Rosenior’s reputation remains strong following his work at Strasbourg.

He guided Chelsea’s sister club to seventh place in the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign, securing qualification for the UEFA Conference League with the youngest squad across Europe’s top five leagues.

Rosenior started his coaching career with Brighton’s Under-23 side before joining Derby County as Wayne Rooney’s assistant.

He later served as interim manager and then took charge of Hull City in 2022, steering the Tigers from 15th to seventh in the Championship across two seasons before being dismissed after narrowly missing the play-offs.

Chelsea have since appointed former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso as Rosenior’s successor. The former Spain midfielder becomes the sixth permanent manager at Stamford Bridge since BlueCo completed its takeover.
