Olakunle Churchill Opens Up On Relationship With Obasanjo

Nigerian philanthropist cum businessman, Olakunle Churchill, has spoken about his relationship with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, following comments from social media users suggesting the elder statesman might be his biological father.

Naija News reports that this comes after Olakunle Churchill joined the celebration of Obasanjo’s 89th birthday.

While sharing a video of the event on his Instagram page, Churchill said Obasanjo’s journey remains a source of inspiration to generations.

He wrote, “Two days ago, I had the privilege of joining family, friends, and admirers to celebrate an extraordinary elder, father figure, and mentor whose life continues to radiate wisdom, guidance, and exemplary leadership. His journey remains a source of inspiration to generations. May the Almighty continue to grant him long life, renewed strength, and abiding grace. Baba OBJ at 89 and still countingan enduring symbol of wisdom and legacy.”

Responding to the netizens who had assumed Obasanjo was his biological father, Churchill explained that a father figure is not necessarily the person who gave birth to a person.

According to him, a father figure can also be an uncle, a relative, or a family friend who plays a significant role in raising, guiding, and mentoring someone throughout their childhood.

He further stated that what truly matters is the role such a person plays in shaping one’s life and the respect earned through that influence.

Churchill added that through Obasanjo’s influence, he attended a military school in Abeokuta, where he spent much of his childhood.
