West Ham Step Up Chase For Super Eagles Midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi
West Ham United have intensified their pursuit of Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi as the 20-year-old continues his international duties with the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Premier League side have been monitoring the progress of the SV Zulte Waregem midfielder for several months, impressed by his composure and consistency in the Belgian top flight.
According to SportsBoom, West Ham officials recently held talks with Nnadi’s representatives while he was with the Super Eagles in Morocco. A source close to the player, Nwosu Chigozie, confirmed that contact was made during the tournament.
“West Ham’s interest has been there for a while, but it became more serious after he was named in Nigeria’s final AFCON squad,” Chigozie told SportsBoom.
“Club representatives travelled to Morocco to speak with Tochukwu and his agent. They wanted to establish the player’s interest before any formal negotiations between the clubs.”
In December 2025, the London side were considering a five-year contract for the Super Eagles prospect, believing his presence could add balance to their midfield.
Nnadi’s rise has not gone unnoticed elsewhere. Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all understood to be tracking his situation, while clubs in Germany and Spain are also monitoring developments. Despite the competition, West Ham are believed to be the most serious suitor.
The former Flying Eagles midfielder featured at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where Nigeria reached the quarter-finals. He made his AFCON debut against Uganda, coming on during Nigeria’s final group match.
Nnadi only joined Zulte Waregem from Botev Plovdiv in January 2024 but has quickly established himself as one of the most highly rated young holding midfielders in Europe.
