Wizkid Deletes Tweets About Crushing On 14-Year-Old After Backlash

Nigerian singer Wizkid is facing criticism after old social media posts from 2010 resurfaced.

Naija News reports that the posts revealed that he expressed a romantic interest in a girl who was only 14 years old at the time.

One of the tweets read:

“Damn!!!…dis girl is to00000000000 cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!… bt she’s 14..crying…she looks 19!.crying”

In another tweet, he wrote:

“Show was funnn!!!!…..d cute 14 yr old babe was jst screaming..ahn ahn..plenty small girls jst dey shout..kai!!…lol.so girls like me?.lol”

A third tweet read:

“Dis girl is too cute…I go bone age o…kai!!…”

Wizkid, then 19, quickly deleted the tweets after they started circulating again online.

The posts described the girl as “too cute” and commented on her appearance, sparking outrage from many social media users.

Some argued that Wizkid was young and may not have fully understood the seriousness of his words, while others say the tweets were inappropriate and showed a concerning power imbalance between a rising star and a minor.

The resurfacing of Wizkid’s posts comes as public attention increasingly focuses on the past online behaviour of celebrities.

The controversy follows similar backlash against other public figures, including Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi, whose old posts also drew criticism.

An old comment from Banky W, then head of Empire Mates Entertainment, where Wizkid was signed, has also surfaced, adding to the public discussion.

Wizkid has not made any public statements about the tweets or the ongoing backlash.
