Why I Went To Ondo To Campaign For Ebiseni – Peter Obi
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said he went to Ondo State to campaign for the party’s governorship candidate, Sola Ebiseni, because of his commitment to democracy.
Peter Obi said the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Sola Ebiseni, has the competence and capacity needed to govern Ondo State effectively.
Obi stated this on Tuesday morning, on his X handle. He explained that through his interaction with Ebiseni, when he was secretary of the apex Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, he believed the candidate would govern with fairness, equity and justice.
He urged Ondo voters to vote against transactional politics that is responsible for widespread misgovernance.
The former governor of Anambra State added that he believed committed and capable leadership would turn things around for good in the country.
“Notwithstanding the myriads of challenges plaguing our electoral system and the unsettling criticisms shadowing recent elections at all levels, I remain steadfast in my commitment to democracy in Nigeria.
“It is this conviction that propelled me to travel by road to Ondo State yesterday to campaign alongside our Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Hon. Sola Ebiseni—a candidate I believe possesses the competence and capacity to govern the State effectively.
“In my interactions with him and through his role as the Afenifere Secretary, I have come to see him as someone who believes in a Nigeria rooted in fairness, equity, and justice. I urge the people to vote against transactional politics, which has thrown up the worst in us as our leaders and has led to widespread misgovernance.
“Despite the current challenges, I remain hopeful that committed, capable leadership can and will turn things around,” Obi wrote.
