Napoli and Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has claimed that he was left to choose between changing his life or doing what was best for his career when he got an offer from a Saudi Arabian club.

Last season, Victor Osimhen led Napoli to the Serie A title and scored 31 goals across all competitions, ending the season as the league’s top scorer.

In addition to leading Napoli to their first league title since Diego Maradona helped the club win it in 1990, Osimhen helped the Italian team advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in the history of the club.

Due to his prolific form, the 24-year-old Super Eagles of Nigeria striker attracted the attention of world-class clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal during last summer’s transfer window.

Unfortunately, none of them could pay the over £150 million Napoli owners were demanding from them. Hence, nothing concrete happened at the end of the transfer window.

Amid that, a Saudi Pro League club, Al-Hilal, reportedly made an outrageous offer to sign him but he turned it down to continue with his contract at Napoli.

In an interview on Obi One Podcast, Victor Osimhen said: “The more I said no to them, the more they increased it.

“That week was a huge decision for me to make but I put everything in God’s hands.

“It was literally like ‘Wow, this is surreal’. I spoke with the people in charge and spoke about it with the club.”

He added: “They never gave up until the end of their transfer window. I said before I played the first game of the season I really don’t want to go back thinking that it was going to change my life.

“But I had to make the decision what is good for my career, as much as we play football for the money.”
