Nigerian-born English star, Dominic Solanke has helped Bournemouth to defeat injury-threatened Newcastle United at Vitality Stadium earlier today, November 11.

After playing goalless in the first 45 minutes, Dominic Solanke grabbed the match-winner in the 60th minute, by making a lucky ricochet off Joe Willock and slotting in from close range.

Solanke doubled Bournemouth’s lead thirteen minutes later by flicking in a rebound after Luis Sinisterra’s header had struck the post.

Late in the second half, Sean Longstaff had Newcastle’s best opportunity when he curled over the bar from an unmarked position.

From the first half of the game to the very end, Bournemouth had several opportunities to record a more emphatic win in front of their home fans.

Aside from poor shots on target, Newcastle United’s goalkeeper Nick Pope made several outstanding saves to keep the scoreline as respectful as possible as the game ended 2-0 in favour of the home side.

The result was disappointing for Newcastle United who went into the game without midfielder Bruno Guimaraes due to suspension and striker Callum Wilson due to injury.

Coach Eddie Howe’s team now sits four points behind Liverpool in fourth place in the Premier League standings after the defeat.

After recording only two wins out of 12 games so far this season, Bournemouth have jumped out to a three-point lead over the bottom three in the Premier League standings.
