English boxing manager and promoter, Frank Warren, has confirmed that the highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will not take place in 2024, disappointing many fans who have been eagerly awaiting this domestic dust-up for years.

Despite being considered one of the biggest fights in boxing, it seems that this matchup will have to wait. Naija News reports that Fury recently faced Francis Ngannou in a crossover clash, but failed to impress and was knocked down in the third round.

Despite this setback, Fury is still expected to face Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed fight on December 23.

After being pushed to his limits by Ngannou, some fans felt that Fury was unfairly judged and called it a robbery. In light of this, Eddie Hearn urged for the cancellation of the Usyk fight, proposing that the ‘Gypsy King’ face Joshua instead.

“Forget Fury vs Usyk, no one is interested. Just give us Fury against AJ. Joshua will knock Tyson Fury out inside six rounds. Make the fight, otherwise, we’ll never get it,” Hearn had told Matchroom’s YouTube channel.

Warren, however, remains resolute in his stance that Fury and Joshua should confront each other in the boxing ring, disregarding Hearn’s plea. He firmly asserts that his fighter will uphold his obligation to confront Usyk as planned. The esteemed boxing promoter emphasizes that Joshua has previously declined offers and is currently no longer in contention for the title.

“No. He (Joshua) didn’t want to fight him last December. We made the offer. So you know where he is now. He’s at the back of that long queue,” Warren told Mail Sport when asked if Fury will fight Joshua in 2024.

He added: “They were not interested in fighting for a world title, having fought twice against Usyk and been beaten twice. He didn’t want to fight for a world title, otherwise, he would have taken that opportunity when it was offered to him.

Naija News recalls that Joshua, who has secured two victories in 2023, aims to revive his career following back-to-back losses to Usyk.

The esteemed former two-time world champion appears to be strategically positioning himself for a potential bout with Fury. However, Warren has emphasized that Joshua’s prospects of facing Fury in the near future are hindered by potential rematches against Usyk and Ngannou.
