When Manchester United fans thought their club would end another weekend without a win, the Red Devils stepped up to grab Erik ten Hag’s job-saving win.

Manchester United went into the game with two successive defeats within the last seven days as they continue to drop in the Premier League standings.

Recall that last weekend, they hosted their local rivals, Manchester City at Old Trafford and they got a beating of their lives as the Manchester derby ended in a 3-0 win for the visitors.

On Wednesday, the Red Devils traveled to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup and failed to successfully defend the EFL Cup which they won by defeating Newcastle in the final last season.

Eddie Howe and his boys ended coach Erik Ten Hag’s run in the EFL Cup with a 3-0 win which means they have conceded 6 goals in seven days before traveling to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

Hence, it was win or burst for the embattled Erik Ten Hag who was without injured Marcus Rashford and fortunately for the Dutchman, Bruno Fernandes stepped up as the club’s captain to save his job with 91st minute goal.

When Manchester United fans thought their club would end another weekend without a win, the Red Devils stepped up to grab Erik ten Hag's job-saving win.

Bruno Fernandes celebrates after scoring against Fulham on Saturday, November 4.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw and the regular 90 minutes also ended in a goalless draw even though Manchester United had 12 shots with five being on target and Fulham recording 18 shots with two being on target.

The match-winner came in the first minute of additional time when João Palhinha gave the ball away in a dangerous position and Fernandes was there to pick it up and tried to pass it to Scott McTominay but the ball ended in the legs of Facundo Pellistri.

Pellistri knew that Fernandes was the best player to score such an important goal as he passed the ball back to the Portuguese attacking midfielder who made no mistake as he skillfully slotted the match-winner into the bottom corner.

The 1-0 win has pushed Manchester United to the 6th spot on the league table with 18 points in 11 games, pending the outcome of other Matchday 11 fixtures.

Note that Marcus Rashford missed the game because he sustained an injury during training not because he was caught partying after United’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on October 29.
