The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has reacted to the Supreme Court’s Thursday verdict affirming the victory of President Bola Tiuubu at the Febuary 25 polls.

Earlier, Naija News reported that Justice John Okoro-led panel unanimously held that the appeals of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, against Tinubu were bereft of merit and deserved to be dismissed.

The other justices on the panel are Uwani Aji, Mohammed Garba, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Abubakar Tijjani and Emmanuel Agim.

Reacting to the verdict of the apex court, the Kogi State governor said it was only a resounding reaffirmation of the people’s choice.

Bello, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, said the judgement was also a test for the strength of the country’s democratic institutions, and applauded the apex court for providing succour for the ordinary Nigerians.

The governor, who congratulated the president and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their landmark victory at the Supreme Court, stressed that it was the popular will, as vividly expressed during the elections conducted on February 25, 2023,

He also congratulated the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that he was optimistic that the party would warmly invite all candidates from other political parties who participated in the election to collaborate with the President for the collective good of the nation.

Bello noted that he was confident that, under President Tinubu’s visionary leadership, Nigeria will continue to flourish and thrive in line with the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of the current administration.
