American heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder has insisted that he would do everything within his power to ensure that he fights Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua.

Following the cancellation of an initial plan for Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder to fight in Saudi Arabia this year, negotiations are underway for the American heavyweight to face the Nigerian-born boxer in 2024.

Talks between 38-year-old Wilder and 34-year-old Joshua recommenced after potential Saudi hosts withdrew from the deal mandating the two heavyweight boxers to face off in Saudi Arabia.

Recent reports claimed that the bout might happen in the United States in the first part of 2024.

There are currently no plans to combine the Wilder-Joshua fight night with the Usyk-Fury one which will take place in Saudi Arabia in December. This is a development that looks satisfactory for the American boxer who is determined to have the world watch him fight AJ.

While Joshua has participated and defeated two heavyweight boxers in the last 8 months, Wilder hasn’t participated in a bout for a full year after defeating Robert Helenius via a first-round knockout in 2022.

Despite that, Wilder has played down Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn’s claim that the Joshua vs Wilder fight is not 100 percent certain due to differences from the American boxer’s camp.

“I’m letting you know I’m ready to fight. Let’s make this the best time of our lives,” Wilder said on a social media post on Wednesday, October 25.

“[It is] a fight everyone is looking forward to and hopefully it happens and I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen.”

He added, “Anthony, you’re getting it from the horse’s mouth himself: I’m here, I’m ready to go.

“I heard some things your promoter [Hearn] said that my last fight only lasted a short period and I haven’t fought in a year and he doesn’t know if I want to fight or not.

“This would be a major disaster if we were never able to get in the ring and put our stamp down in history.”
