The 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League matchday three resumed this evening with two early kick-offs which ended in straight wins.

FC Barcelona, hosted struggling Shakhtar Donetsk at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys this evening and ensured that they maintained their winning streak.

Ferran Torres gave Barcelona the lead in the 28th minute making it look like a game that should be a whitewash for the visitors.

To make it obvious that Shakhtar Donetsk were in for a big thrashing, Fermín López doubled Barca’s lead in the 36th minute. However, the quick two goals didn’t inspire the hosts to score more in the remaining minutes of the first half as the half ended 2-0 in Barca’s favour.

In the second half, the Ukrainian side became more organized and developed more confidence but couldn’t do much until after the half-hour mark.

In the 62nd minute, Heorhiy Sudakov got one back for the visiting team causing serious panic at the side of the hosts. Unfortunately, that was the best the visitors could do as the game ended 2-1 in favour of the hosts.

The 2-1 victory means that Barca are topping Champions League Group H with 9 points in three games, while Shakhtar Donetsk are sitting third with three points in three games.

Meanwhile, Lazio weren’t able to handle Dutch side Feyenoord at the De Kuip as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away from home.

Two goals from Santiago Giménez and a goal from Ramiz Zerrouki made the penalty goal from Lazio’s Pedro meaningless.

The 3-1 victory has pushed Feyenoord to the top of Group E with 6 points in three games. While Lazio have dropped to third with four points in three games.
