About a hundred Galatasaray and Bayern Munich supporters got into a fight in Istanbul’s bar district ahead of their Champions League match tonight.

This is coming hours before the UEFA Champions League group stage game between Bayern Munich and Galatasaray at the RAMS Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The game will kick off at 5:45 p.m. later tonight, October 24, 2023.

Ahead of the clash, four German and one Turkish fans reportedly suffered minor injuries, according to Turkish media, but no charges have been brought against the culprits.

In the Beyoglu neighborhood of Istanbul, spectators were seen hurling chairs and other small objects down the main street, as captured by street cameras.

The tourist area, which is well-known for the bars that Galatasaray supporters frequent, was disturbed when fans started to gather near one of the team’s retail stores.

The IHA news agency reported that the brawl involved 70 German and Turkish fans. The German consulate in Istanbul has not yet reacted to the incident at the time of writing this report.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Bayern Munich hold a 36-game winning streak in the Champions League group stage. They are also leading Group A with 6 points in 2 games.
