Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Ukrainian winger, Mykhaylo Mudryk, needs to improve despite scoring a stunning goal against Arsenal on Saturday, October 21.

Chelsea signed Mudryk from Ukrainian club, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, for a transfer fee worth €70 million on January 15, 2023, with a lot of promise.

Unfortunately, Mudryk has not been able to live up to expectations since he arrived at the club but has shown a bit of brilliance this season.

Since he arrived at Chelsea, the 22-year-old Ukrainian left-winger has managed to score 2 goals and provide two assists in 26 games in all competitions for the West London club.

Due to injury issues at Chelsea, coach Pochettino has had to depend more on the youngster, who has made 9 appearances and scored just two goals this season.

The most memorable goal Mudryk has scored for Chelsea was the goal against Arsenal on Saturday.

During the London derby, Chelsea broke with numbers down the left flank, and Conor Gallagher fed the Ukraine international, who then looked for Raheem Sterling at the back post, but his cross soared over Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya and into the back of the net.

Unfortunately, the goal wasn’t enough to win Chelsea the game at Stamford Bridge as Arsenal came from two goals down to draw 2-2 in front of Chelsea’s home fans.

Despite the goal from Mudryk, which could be in contention for the Premier League goal of the week, coach Pochettino insisted that the winger still has a lot to improve on.

He said, “Mudryk is not at his best. He needs to improve.

“He really needed his first goal at Stamford Bridge. He still needs to improve, but with this goal, I think he is going to be more confident in the future.”
