NYSC Reacts To Killing Of Female Corps Member In Kaduna

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is aggrieved by the sudden death of one of its corps members, Joel Grace Chalya KD/23A/4386, who was serving in Kaduna.

The Kaduna State Police Command had, in a statement earlier, confirmed the brutal murder of Silas, by unidentified persons in the state.

The Command’s spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that the state Police Commissioner, Musa Yusuf Garba, has directed a manhunt for the killers of the Corps member.

Naija News learnt that the young lady was stabbed to death during her morning jogging at the Barnawa, in Kaduna South Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

Following the sad incident, the deceased’s friends and coursemates at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) took to Facebook to mourn her.

In an official statement released late Thursday, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the NYSC, Eddy Megwa, explained further that the deceased had joined her fellow corps members for a morning jog after her morning devotion when she was attacked and fatally stabbed by criminals, who also stole her phone.

While lamenting the horrific event, Megwa urged the general public to collaborate with the security agencies in ensuring the safety and protection of all corps members deployed in their respective communities.

“Corps members are our children, our sisters and brothers and all Nigerians must protect them,” the statement said.

He said the scheme was in strong collaboration with various security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly act and ensure that justice was served.
