Since 2017 when Neymar left FC Barcelona for French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint Germain, he has been known for sustaining a series of injuries.

Due to the consistency of his injury woes, most fans of PSG grew impatient with him last season and protested against him until he decided to move to Saudi Pro League club, Al Hilal on a transfer deal reportedly worth over €90 million.

The 31-year-old Brazilian forward joined the club with an injury that kept him out of the club’s games for close to a month.

Unfortunately for the Saudi Arabia side and Brazil, Neymar was taken off the field on a stretcher with what appeared to be a serious knee injury during Brazil’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night, October 17.

During the first half of the game, the Brazil international landed awkwardly after challenging Nicolas de la Cruz for the ball.

On Wednesday, October 18, Al Hilal confirmed via a statement that Neymar tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and his meniscus which could keep him out of football for the rest of the year.

In his reaction to the injury, Neymar took to his Instagram page to describe how he felt over the setback and urged for support from family and friends.

He said: “It’s a very sad moment, the worst of my life”.

“I know I’m strong… but this time I need the support of my family and my friends”.

“It’s not easy to get injured, undergo surgery, and then… do it again just four months later.

“I have faith, I leave it in God’s hands”.
