'We Won't Submit The State To Anarchy' - Ondo Govt Rejects Court Order On Akeredolu's Health

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would be “insane” for anyone to question the people of the state who demand the whereabouts of their governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

The Ondo PDP, according to a statement it issued on Wednesday said that people of the state have the right to demand the whereabouts of their governor.

The party was reacting to a statement made by the Ondo State governor’s aide, Doyin Odebowale, who said on national television that it was only mischief makers that would ask for the whereabouts of his principal. And that the PDP can not force him to return to Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Recall that on Tuesday, the Ondo PDP gave Akeredolu a 24-hour ultimatum to address the people of the state and return to his office in Akure, or resign from office.

Akeredolu, since his return from his medical trip to Germany, has been running Ondo State affairs from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

However, the PDP in the statement issued yesterday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, said Odebowale’s argument was illogical.

The party said it was ignorant of Odebowale to think that the opposition party had no business demanding the whereabouts of the governor.

The PDP noted that “On a good day, it would have been unnecessary to react to Doyin Odebowale’s illogical argument about why Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has not been seen in Ondo State because he who drums for a madman is himself insane.

“However, to say that PDP has no business demanding for Mr Governor’s whereabouts is a measure of his ignorance of what is expected of a governor that has been missing in action for more than six months.”
