Arsenal’s embattled goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale has admitted that his place in the England national team is under threat over his inability to regain his starting spot at Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale lost his place in Arsenal’s starting lineup on September 17, 2023, when coach Mikel Arteta decided to start David Raya ahead of him in the Premier League game against Everton.

Raya who is currently on loan at the Emirates Stadium from Brentford gave a very good account of himself that Arteta kept faith with him in Premier League duties since then.

Things have gotten so bad for Aaron Ramsdale that the last time he started a game for Arsenal was on September 27, 2023, in a Carabao Cup game against Brentford which ended in a 1-0 win for the Gunners.

Ramsdale’s absence in Arsenal’s starting lineup has also cost him his starting spot in England’s team as coach Gareth Southgate prefers Everton’s Jordan Pickford over him.

In an interview with Daily Mail, the 25-year-old English goalkeeper admitted that he could lose his spot in the national team if he continues to stay out of Arsenal’s starting lineup.

Ramsdale said: “Concerned about losing my place in the England squad? Yes, of course, it’s the first time I have found myself in this situation”.

“I want to get back into my club team”.

“I want to give the manager a headache rather than just have Pickford as N1”.

On his relationship with David Raya, Aaron Ramsdale said, “We work professionally really well together. We push each other in training.

“There’s days where I come in and I’m down because of the situation and he picks me up. I’d do the same for him. We support each other.”
