Man City Favourites To Win 2022/23 Premier League Title – Says Arsenal's Arteta

The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has insisted that he has learned a lot from Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta instead of the other way round.

Coach Arteta started cutting his teeth in coaching when he served as the assistant coach of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City between 2016 and 2019.

In 2019, Arsenal appointed the 41-year-old Spanish tactician from Manchester City to manage the North London club. Arteta struggled in his first season at the club but has been able to do great things with the club.

Arteta has helped Arsenal to win the FA Cup and two FA Community Shields. He won the last Community Shield in 2023 via penalties against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Last season, Arteta was very close to helping Arsenal win the Premier League title for the first time since 2003 as they remained on top of the league table for over 200 days. However, Guardiola’s City came from behind to steal the title in the last 6 weeks of the campaign.

Despite how Mikel Arteta has been able to make Arsenal a competitive club in the last three seasons, most people still attribute Arteta’s success to the experience he gained under Guardiola’s tutelage.

However, ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium later today, October 8, by 4:30 p.m., Guardiola insisted that he was the one who learnt a lot from Arteta.

The 52-year-old Spanish tactician said: “Arsenal have a manager for many years, he loves the club.

“All the success he has belongs to Mikel Arteta and the club (Arsenal), not me. People say: he was with Pep and learned a lot. Trust me, I learned a lot from him”.
