The owner of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted that there are ‘no problems’ with Victor Osimhen’s contract extension and that the player is happy at the club.

He, however, warned that players who leave the reigning Italian Serie A champions for other clubs “no longer find their path.”

De Laurentiis stated this in an interview with the Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito after Napoli’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage.

Recall that Osimhen and the Partenopei have been negotiating a new contract for several months, but no agreement has been reached.

The good news for Napoli is that Osimhen still has two seasons in his current contract with the club as his deal with the Partenopei will expire in June 2025.

Amidst the contract extension talks, Napoli were threatened with legal action by Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda, after the club released a TikTok video that many people believed made fun of the 24-year-old Nigerian striker.

However, De Laurentiis said he didn’t have any problem with extending Osimhen’s contract.

“Osimhen is always strong, there are no doubts about him,” said De Laurentiis.

“New contract? Yes, there is no problem. There is never a problem. Everyone is always happy at Napoli. It’s their (players’) problem when they leave because they no longer find their path.”
