Former FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal has distanced himself from the managerial position at Ajax.

Ajax are the most successful Dutch club in history but the last two seasons have been unarguably their worst in recent years.

At the end of last season, they failed to win the league title which is almost like their birthright. They also failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

They are currently occupying the 14th spot on the league table after a defeat, two draws, and one win in four league games.

On Sunday, September 24, Ajax’s game against Feyenoord at the Johan Cruijff ArenA was suspended due to fans’ troubles.

Ajax’s fans threw flares on the pitch to protest their unhappiness over how the club is declining both domestically and in Europe.

The match officials had to halt the game permanently in the second half due to intense fans’ agitations when Feyenoord were leading 3-0.

The decline at the club and fans’ agitations had led to the club’s Director of Football, Sven Mislintat, stepping down from his role.

Also, there are reports that the club’s current manager, Maurice Steijn is on his way out of the club.

Amidst all the chaos, it is believed that Louis van Gaal who is currently battling prostate cancer can be their saviour.

However, the former Netherlands national team head coach has insisted in an interview with a Dutch TV outlet that his “health comes first.”

He added: “How am I doing? Well, I had surgery two or three weeks ago.

“They have tried to put everything in order, details of which I won’t tire you with further, but now we have to wait and see.

“On September 19, I have to go back again and then everything will be decided – and then a miracle could take place that I can go the toilet by myself again.”
