Liverpool have completed the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder, Ryan Gravenberch on summer transfer deadline day, September 1.

The Premier League giants paid the sum of 40 million euros to bring the 21-year-old Dutch international to Anfield Stadium.

Ryan Gravenberch signed a five-year deal with Liverpool which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028. He has been assigned shirt number 38.

After completing the move, Gravenberch said, “I’m very happy that the deal is done and I’m finally here. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Now we start fresh again, a new start, and I’m going to give my all for this club. [My ambitions are] to win prizes. To win prizes, play a lot, and show them who we are and who I am.”

Only a year ago, Gravenberch made the switch from Ajax to Bayern, for a transfer fee worth 18.5 million euros.

The Reds have been keeping an eye on him for a few seasons and believe he can play in a variety of midfield lineups.

Liverpool’s coach Jurgen Klopp said, “Ryan knows he has to improve things but he’s 21, it would be crazy if not. But he is super-talented, he can drive the ball, he can be a box-to-box threat.

“He has a good eye for a pass and a good pass. I said before, we have a big challenge to reinvent pretty much one of the most successful midfielders this club ever had, and I really like it.

“When I look now at the team, it’s a good football team, honestly.”

Due to the next international break, Gravenberch might make his debut against Wolves on September 16 if all the necessary paperworks are not completed in time for Sunday’s game against Aston Villa.

He is the fourth midfielder that Liverpool has bought this summer after Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alexis Mac Allister.
