2023-2024 UEFA Champions League: Here Is All You Need To Know

The 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League is set to return to our TV screens but first, the qualified teams will have to be grouped before it officially kicks off on September 19.

As usual, while the fans are gearing up for Tuesday and Wednesday nights’ European elite football, clubs have their fingers crossed as they are set to know their group stage opponents on August 31.

Yes, you read that right, the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League group stage draw will take place at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco, France, on Thursday, 31 August, from 5 p.m. WAT.

Note that the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League will mark the end of the 32-team era. After this season, the elite competition will be expanded to 36 teams with a different format.

2023-2024 UEFA Champions League Pots

Note that all the clubs in each pot won’t face themselves in the group stage.

Pot 1 is made of teams that won league titles in Europe’s top six leagues – Premier League (Manchester City), Serie A (Napoli), La Liga (FC Barcelona), Ligue 1 (PSG), Portuguese League (Benfica), and the German Bundesliga (Bayern Munich).

Also, winners of the Champions League (which co-incidently happens to be Manchester City), Europa Conference League (Feyenoord), and Europa League (Sevilla) are included in pot 1.

Pot 1: Man City, Napoli, Barcelona, Bayern, PSG, Benfica, Sevilla, Feyenoord

Pot 2: Inter, Real Madrid, Man United, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Porto

Pot 3: Lazio, Milan, Shakhtar, RB Salzburg, Red Star, Real Sociedad, Celtic, Rangers OR PSV

Pot 4: Newcastle, Lens, Union Berlin, Antwerp OR AEK, Rakow OR Copenhagen, Braga OR Panathinaikos, Maccabi Haifa OR Young Boys, Molde OR Galatasaray

Note that five more clubs are expected to book a spot in the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League pot via the playoffs which must be concluded on August 30, a day before the draw.
