Former Flying Eagles striker, Akor Adams set a record for the fastest brace in the French Ligue 1 by becoming the first player to score two goals in a single game.

On Sunday, August 13, Akor Adams made his debut for Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 a week after he joined the French Ligue 1 side from Norwegian club Lillestrom.

In the game, Akpor proved his coach, Michel Der Zakarian right for giving him a start in the game by scoring two goals in the 2-2 draw with Le Havre at Stade de la Mossonand.

Adams’ two goals were separated by just one minute and 42 seconds, making it the quickest double for a player making his Ligue 1 debut since OPTA began tracking the league in the 2006-2007 season.

Even though his two goals couldn’t give the French side a winning start to the new season, they were enough for him to create history.

A statement from Montpellier confirming Adams’ record at the club reads, “First player in Montpellier’s history to score a brace in his first game in Ligue 1″.

Aside from the records, Akor Adams’ outstanding performance earned him a spot in the French Ligue 1 team of the week.

When La Pallaide go to Lyon for their following Ligue 1 game on August 19, Adams will look to keep up his goal-scoring streak.

Last season, Adams played 15 times for Lillestrom in the Norwegian Eliteserien, scoring 15 goals and dishing out two assists.
