‘Victor Osimhen Turns Down €60 Million Per Season Deal’

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly rejected the €60 million per season deal from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

The said deal would have made the 24-year-old Nigerian striker the highest-paid Nigerian and African player in the history of football. It would have also made him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.

If the said salary is broken down, Victor Osimhen could have earned almost €1 million every week for a season in Saudi Arabia.

Even though Osimhen and Napoli are still negotiating a new contract that could pay him just €7 million per season, the Nigeria international still wants to remain in Europe and won’t be tempted by the outrageous offer from Al Hilal.

Naija News has reported that Al Hilal made a transfer bid worth over €130 million to Napoli for the services of Osimhen who still has until June 30, 2025, before his current contract expires. Interestingly, Napoli who are more interested in extending Osimhen’s contract this summer or selling for around €200 million turned down the offer.

Speculations were that Osimhen would want to push for the deal to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Marcelo Brozovic, and Sadio Mane in the middle east.

But Osimhen who scored 26 goals and provided five assists to help Napoli win the 2022-2023 Serie A title for the first time in 33 years chose legacy over money at least for now.
