Former unified world champion Roy Jones Jr. has predicted that Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua would win his upcoming rematch against Dillian Whyte.

Eight years after their historic British championship encounter, Anthony Joshua and Whyte will face off on August 12 at the 02 Arena.

Jones was in talks to train Joshua after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, but Joshua decided to train in Dallas, United States with Derrick James.

Since Anthony Joshua started training with James, he has fought once against American boxer Jermaine Franklin in April which ended in a victory on points for AJ.

Even though AJ didn’t appoint Jones as his trainer, the retired boxer is optimistic about Joshua’s chances in the bout against his fellow Briton Whyte.

“I think it should be a good fight, I think Joshua will probably beat him again. Hopefully, he and Derrick have become more comfortable with one another now, and he has a better understanding of what Derrick wants from him,” Jones said in an interview with Boxing News.

“He knows how to beat Whyte – he beat him one time already. But he actually should beat him better this time than he did the first time, if he has proper training.”
