Klopp Decides On Dumping Liverpool To Become Germany Head Coach

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he is not leaving Liverpool at the moment for an opportunity to coach Germany’s national football team.

Naija News recalls that Klopp penned a three-year coaching contract with Liverpool on October 8, 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers. The German professional coach subsequently renewed his contract with the Reds.

Klopp’s current contract as Liverpool’s manager will have him remain at Anfield till 2026.

The 56-year-old German coach has been consistently linked with managing his home country’s national team, and rumours have only increased in recent times due to Germany’s poor displays.

Die Mannschaft was knocked out of the last two World Cups at the group stage in humiliating fashion.

Germany is set to host Euro 2024, but current head coach Hansi Flick is under intense pressure and scrutiny, having won just four of his last 16 matches.

However, Klopp has ended speculations about replacing Flick, insisting that he intends to see out his contract at Liverpool that runs until 2026.

“The job of [Germany] national coach is and would be a great honour — there is no question about that,” Metro UK quoted Klopp saying.

He added: “The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty. I can’t just leave Liverpool now and say I will take over Germany for a short time. That doesn’t work, and the request is not even there.”

“If I’m supposed to do that [manage Germany] at some point, then I have to be available, and I’m not currently. I have a responsibility towards the club.

“Basically, it is an interesting job. But I don’t know yet whether I will do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I want to keep my options open.”
