Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi has revealed that the ambition of his club, Everton in the 2023-2024 season is to avoid suffering what they suffered in the previous seasons.

In the last two seasons, Everton had to wait until the last two matchdays to secure their safety in the Premier League.

Last season, things became so bad that Everton had to sack coach Frank Lampard in the middle of the season and replaced him with Sean Dyche.

They are gearing up for an improved season in which they won’t have to struggle to remain in the Premier League but strive to finish strong.

Alex Iwobi who has reunited with the team after the summer break praised the team’s high spirit and agreed that the upcoming campaign will be a new beginning for Everton.

“Obviously, as a team, we don’t want to be where we were last year. We want to improve and with the players we have, with the quality we have, we should be able to do that,” Alex Iwobi told the club’s official website.

Alex Iwobi participated in all 41 of Everton’s games during the 2022–2023 season in which he scored two goals and provided 9 assists.

Iwobi, 27, was satisfied with his performance and the team’s general development in becoming physically prepared for the upcoming season after the exhibition game against Stade Nyonnais.

He said, “There’s still a long way to go. Everyone is looking very fit and sharp, even the youngsters that have been out here with us. Hopefully, it’s a promising season ahead”.
