On Monday, all petitions questioning the election of a Senator for Kaduna North Constituency that were submitted before the Kaduna Election Petition Tribunal were previewed.

Naija News understands that all parties in the petition challenging the outcome of the Senatorial election for Kaduna North Constituency closed their cases today.

However, during a court sitting in Kaduna on Monday (today), Justice H.H. Kereng declared that all other addresses should be presented and signed on or before August 4 as he adjourned till August 7 for the adoption of final addresses.

Earlier, Counsel to the 2nd respondent, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), D.B Kwajafa, who was slated to open a defence, applied to close their case.

We have previewed evidence by the petitioners and that of the first respondent and we are of the view that we don’t need to call any witness,” he said.

Similarly, Counsel to the 3rd respondent, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), H.S. Gachi, also said they wouldn’t be calling any witnesses and applied to close the case.

Naija News recalls that the Khalid Ibrahim-Mustapha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was announced months ago as the winner of the Kaduna North Senatorial District election.

He was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Saleh Ado of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

According to him, 12 political parties keenly contested the election and the candidate of the PDP won the poll.
