British heavyweight boxer, Daniel Dubois said he is ready to end the reign of Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Oleksandr Usyk on August 26.

Oleksandr Usyk hit the global limelight when he beat British-Nigeria heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua to grab the WBO, WBA (Super), and IBF titles in 2021. Since then, no boxer has been able to unseat him.

In an attempt to bring life to the heavyweight division, 25-year-old Daniel Dubois was made his mandatory challenger.

The 36-year-old Usyk will battle with the British boxer at the 24,000-capacity Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland since he couldn’t take the fight to his home country, Ukraine, due to the ongoing conflict between the country and Russia.

Ahead of the bout, Daniel Dubois who is currently the holder of the WBA (Regular) belt said during the bout’s press conference on Thursday, July 13, that he aims to return to England with Usyk’s belts.

“I’m 100% ready. We’re ready to rumble – this is it,” Dubois who has won 19 fights, 18 by knockout, and been defeated once said.

“I’m bringing the titles back home – they’re coming with me. It’s my time. Usyk has been a great champion but everything with a beginning has to have an end.”

While Usyk who has not lost any of his 20 fights said, “I think highly of my opponent. He’s a nice man, a nice guy, a nice athlete.

“He’s the mandatory challenger so he deserves it. All the respect for him, his team, and the people around him, but let’s stop talking and see each other on 26 August.”
