The new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, claims that there is “no patience” in soccer and that his club must “deliver from day one.”

After a difficult 2022-2023 season in which Chelsea struggled to remain in the Premier League and managed to finish 12th on the table after changing three different managers, the club appointed Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager.

Pochettino who made his name in the Premier League while serving as the manager of Southampton and then Tottenham Hotspur (2014-2019), signed a two-year deal with Chelsea with an option for a year extension.

Before he joined Chelsea, Pochettino who has been jobless since PSG sacked him in 2022, was reportedly on his way back to Tottenham Hotspur. Instead, he joined the blue side of London.

In his first comments after he was announced the manager of Chelsea, he described the West London club as “the greatest team in England” in the last 10 to 15 years.

During his first press conference as the manager of Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino said his players need to “believe” they can compete.

“It is about delivering from now,” he said. “We cannot tell the people we need six months to create something.”

He added: “I spoke with the owners in a really good way. They are clever people and I feel good. I am not a coach who needs to ask for power.

“The most important thing I need to show them is to trust in me and the players and the fans can trust my decisions and the way we operate.”
