Police Arrest Imo LP Assembly Candidate

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the Owerri municipal House of Assembly, Clinton Amadi has been arrested by the Imo State police command.

A source that spoke with The Sun revealed that Amadi was arrested on Monday at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) State Headquarters in Owerri, Imo State.

The source disclosed that the candidate of the LP was arrested while he visited the office of the electoral body.

Amadi had visited the INEC office to obtain certified true copies of the INEC results for the just concluded March 18th election to prosecute his case in the tribunal.

The LP candidate in reaction to his arrest in a chat with the platform alleged that the officials of INEC in Owerri, the state capital conspired to arrest him with men of Nigeria police from the Tiger Base unit of the state command.

He said, “I was called to come to INEC Office to collect the certified copy of the INEC results, reaching there in the afternoon I got sorrunded by heavily Armed Policemen who arrested me.

“Currently I am at the Tiger Base Unit of Imo State Police command just sneaked out to answer your call.”
