PDP Supporters Celebrate Adeleke’s Victory At Appeal Court (Photos)

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lawyers celebrated the victory of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

Naija News earlier reported that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday delivered a ruling on the Osun State governorship election contested by Governor Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola.

A three-member panel, led by Justice Mohammed Lawal, in a unanimous decision, held that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Oyetola failed to prove their overvoting case against Adeleke.

The court held that Adeleke’s appeal to challenge his sack by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was meritorious.

The court thereafter set aside the ruling of the tribunal and affirmed the PDP candidate as the authentic governor of the South West state.

Meanwhile, governor Adeleke has reacted to Friday’s Appeal Court ruling which affirmed his election victory and overturned the position of the state governorship election petition tribunal.

Speaking in Ede shortly after the court ruling, Oyetola said there is no victor and no vanquished irrespective of the outcome of the court process.

He stated that the Appeal Court has only aligned with the people’s popular opinion at the polls.

The governor while appreciating the people of Osun for their support, promised them that the good work has only started and called on all stakeholders including members of the opposition to join hands with him to move the state to the next level.
