Osun: Gov. Adeleke Reacts To Appeal Court Judgment Against Oyetola

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has reacted to Friday’s Appeal Court ruling which affirmed his election victory and overturned the position of the state governorship election petition tribunal.

Speaking in Ede shortly after the court ruling, Oyetola said there is no victor and no vanquished irrespective of the outcome of the court process.

He stated that the Appeal Court has only aligned with the people’s popular opinion at the polls.

The Governor while appreciating the people of Osun for their support, promised them that the good work has only started and called on all stakeholders including members of the opposition to join hands with him to move the state to the next level.

“I thank the people of Osun for standing by me throughout the trial period and even now, irrespective of the outcome of the verdict. The people have spoken and the judiciary has aligned with their voices.

“Osun belonged to all of us, irrespective of party affiliation. This is democracy and the beauty of it is healthy competition. So, the judgement for me is a no victor, no vanquish. We should all return to the table and continue the good work of moving Osun forward.

“I urged the good people of the state to continue to be law abiding. From me, I am assuring you that the good work is just starting, they should expect more dividends of democracy.

“I also commend the Judges of the Court of Appeal for standing on the side of truth. They should continue to stand on the side of the law. The court is the last hope of the common man and we commend the court for dispensing justice today”, he said.

Naija News recalls the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday delivered a ruling on the Osun State governorship election contested by Governor Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola.

The Court stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Oyetola failed to prove their overvoting case against Adeleke.

The Court of Appeal set aside the decision of the Osun State Governorship tribunal and upheld the Governorship of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The Appeal Court affirmed Adeleke as the authentic governor of Osun State.
